Monday at CES Slacker announced live streaming of ESPN Audio shows and sporting events to Slacker listeners, part of the Slacker Radio/ESPN Audio agreement first announced in September. Live ESPN content is now available for listening on the web at www.Slacker.com, with mobile experiences coming soon. The new live streaming feature launched with the BCS Championship title game, available to all Slacker listeners via the web player. Future live programming will be available to Slacker Radio Plus and Slacker Premium Radio subscribers. The interactive ESPN Radio station on Slacker will remain free and available to all listeners. Tuesday at CES Slacker announced a partnership with The Weather Channel to bring customizable national, regional and local weather updates and forecasts to Slacker listeners. The Weather Channel integration will be available in early 2012 on the web as well as mobile devices. All Slacker listeners, regardless of their service tier, will have access to features from The Weather Channel, including a dedicated station from The Weather Channel featuring national, regional and local forecasts and updates from major market cities throughout the United States. Weather updates and forecasts will also be available as optional items to be added to stations of the listener’s choice to get the latest weather updates on any of their favorite Slacker radio stations. Tuesday at CES Slacker announced a partnership with American Public Media to bring award-winning public radio programming to the Slacker lineup. Slacker users will be able to listen to APM’s Marketplace and The Current for free anywhere that Slacker is available, from mobile devices to Sonos wireless systems. Emphasizing Slacker’s dedication to being the ultimate radio resource, this partnership is yet another step in allowing Slacker listeners to enjoy an incredibly diverse collection of radio content right at their fingertips. Also on Tuesday, Slacker showed the Slacker Radio application for the Android™ tablet at the Verizon booth at CES. The new Slacker Radio application has been specifically optimized for the Android tablet with a content-rich interface to get the most from a fast 4G LTE connection. A highly visual application, Slacker Radio for the Android tablet features a unique station tile display with horizontal and vertical scrolling along with the ability to preview stations before playing and an optimized ability to browse for content, making music discovery even easier. Navigation of the application has been simplified to easily browse content and switch views. Slacker Radio offers song lyrics, artist profiles, album reviews and more all in one place with additional content discovery just a tap away.
