Tuesday Slacker announced their availability in Ford vehicles with SYNC AppLink. AppLink builds on the award-winning SYNC connectivity system by enabling drivers to access and control apps on their smartphones by simply using their voice and allowing their hands to stay on the steering wheel and their eyes on the road. Ford drivers are able to use their voice or the audio system controls to select Slacker stations to play, skip songs, set favorites or even ban a song or artist they don’t want to hear again. When driving into areas with limited or even no data connectivity, drivers can still listen to their favorite music by storing content directly to their phones for uninterrupted listening. In order to use Slacker with AppLink, drivers just need to update the Slacker Radio app on their smartphones to the latest version. Slacker with AppLink is now available on Android and BlackBerry with iOS pending approval. Also on Tuesday, Slacker announced new Lifestyle stations in conjunction with ABC News to be launched in early 2012. These Lifestyle stations, only available on Slacker, will feature stories about personal interest topics from healthy living and relationships to fashion and technology, and they will include highlights from leading lifestyle magazines. Slacker's Lifestyle stations will add to an already diverse collection of music and non-music listening options. Slacker's growing range of music and non-music content includes ABC News, customizable ESPN Sports, Artist Showcase stations, comedy stations and more. Wednesday Slacker announced its long-awaited availability on Sonos. Sonos customers can now enjoy all three tiers of service and browse, fine tune and enjoy expert-programmed Slacker genre stations or create their own custom stations. Premium users can view and play songs and albums, allowing behind-the-scenes access to the "Top 50" charts for every Slacker station. Slacker artist pages feature the artist biography, all songs by the artist, discography and related artists for an immersive listening experience. Thursday Slacker Radio was honored and excited to announce that they are the title sponsor of the 2012 "Slacker Canadian Music Week", Mar. 21-25 in Toronto, Ontario. In the months leading up to Slacker Canadian Music Week, Slacker will be launching a variety of unique stations with a Canadian focus. These will include a station with music and interviews highlighting the bands/artists playing Slacker Canadian Music Fest, a 30th anniversary festival station and multiple Artist Showcase stations programmed and hosted by Canadian bands and artists.
