Business giant Amazon is making big moves with the unveiling of 30-minute Amazon Prime Air. This new delivery system will be able to fly products to your doorstep within 30 minutes of placing an order. In an interview on 60 Minutes, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos says that the quadcopters will be capable of delivering a five-pound package to addresses within 10 miles of an Amazon fulfillment center in 30 minutes or less. Amazon has already automated many of its warehouses and fulfillment centers with robot workers, but now they are taking it a step further by substituting aerial robots for UPS deliverymen. It will take a couple of years to get Amazon Air fully functional due to the regulations the delivery devices must meet. Amazon will need to get their civil unmanned aircrafts approved by the FAA, which could take until 2015 or later and they must make some technological advancements to the drones before they officially get off the ground. Despite the fact that we will have to wait for this feature, it is exciting to see technology take off in the futuristic way we have all been waiting for, especially with a company used by so many people around the world. To witness exactly how Amazon Prime Air will work, take a look at the FAQ and video on their site here.
