Now You'll Never Eat Alone 02/10/2012
On Tuesday SK Planet launched dishPal, an iOS and Android app that allows users to easily take pictures and share dishes with friends and fellow foodies, whether dining out or cooking from home. The app enables users to share their favorite meals and add DishPal friends, as well as browse and comment on other DishPal users’ photos. The originality of the app led to it being featured as a "New and Noteworthy App" in the Apple App Store just a few days after launching
DishPal incorporates a variety of features including potlucks, magazines and tagging capabilities – making dish sharing stimulating and social. Any user can create a themed potluck for DishPal friends and foodies to join and contribute to within the app. Whether the potluck theme is vegetarian delights or holiday cuisine, the result is a mixture of everyone’s favorite dishes that adhere to a pre-established and shared cuisine interest. Users also have the opportunity to customize virtual DishPal magazines that only they can post dishes in, allowing users to highlight their individual tastes.

Tuesday Slacker launched four new Latin stations - Memorias, Puro Norte, Romántica and Salsa - expanding its curated Spanish language offerings.
Three of these stations (Memorias, Puro Norte and Romántica) are programmed by new Slacker DJ Edgar Pineda, a terrestrial radio veteran of over 18 years. From working as a DJ at a regional Mexican station to Programming Director for Radio Romántica Network and Operations Manager for the Super Estrella Network, Edgar brings to Slacker his strong passion for Latin music and deep cultural roots.

Qualcomm Atheros Inc., announced on Tuesday the introduction of the Skifta Media Shifting Platform for entertainment-driven consumer electronics. Skifta powered devices will create the framework for an interoperable wireless platform, ideal for accessing and streaming digital music, photos and videos around the home. The first component to be unveiled is the Skifta Wireless Audio Adapter, which is designed for manufacturers seeking to offer consumers a way to retrofit their legacy audio devices with both connectivity and support for Digital Living Network Alliance (DLNA) and Universal Plug and Play (UPnP). Monsoon's OEM Parternships 01/13/2012
Tuesday Monsoon Multimedia announced that it is porting its TV Anywhere placeshifting software engines to additional semiconductor platforms developed by C2 Microsystems Inc. and Zenverge Inc. These major semiconductor companies offer video chipsets for use in TVs, set-top boxes, game consoles and an increasing number of connected entertainment products.
“Strong demand from OEMs for our TV Anywhere technology has been the impetus behind our new licensing strategy,” said Paul Friedman, EVP of Business Development at Monsoon. “We are currently the only proven independent one-stop-shop for companies looking to quickly deploy a live TV placeshifting solution for smartphones, tablets and computers.”
Monsoon had also announced on Tuesday that it has selected Zenverge’s ZN200 Quad-Stream Transcoder and developed a partnership with Zenverge to access Monsoon’s placeshifting and DVR software for high-definition streaming to multiple mobile devices for major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Zenverge is a pioneer in the development of advanced media ICs and has provided the industry’s first Quad-Stream HD Transcoder.
“Monsoon is very excited about leveraging the flexible HD transcoding and encoding capabilities of the Zenverge architecture in our Vulkano placeshifting products,” said Colin Stiles, Monsoon’s EVP of Sales and Marketing. “We see great potential in adding multi-stream HD transcoding features to our streaming products and we have selected the ZN200 to provide high value solutions to our OEM customers.”
