April Fools Day, a global wide celebration of laughter and trickery, often mistaken for a national holiday (really should be), generated great buzz this year as media involvement in the tech community took it to new heights. A full 24 hours dedicated to schemes and pranks is a great recipe for some fun, but lets just say some people decided to take it to the next level.

The more people you trick, the better the April Fool's prank, right? Following this logic, pranker's like Conan O'Brien and companies like Google, gave new meaning to this boisterous holiday -- fooling thousands of their followers on a grand, elaborate scale. Conan O'Brien took the cake this year, with his Mashable prank. Check out his pranks, among some of our other favorite pranks that fooled the world at large.
